Getting Started
Third Loop Tools is a browser extension that brings Third Loop into whatever page you are reading. Instead of copying text into a chat, you can summarize the current page, ask questions about it, and save it straight to a collection — all from a small popup, without leaving the page.
The extension talks to your own Third Loop environment, so page content you summarize or save stays inside your secure tenant.
Supported Browsers
| Browser | How you install it |
|---|---|
| Firefox | Available directly from the Third Loop Downloads page. |
| Chrome | Distributed by your organization. Your IT team enables it through a managed policy. |
| Edge | Distributed by your organization. Edge installs the same package as Chrome. |
Chrome and Edge are not published to the public web stores. They are hosted on Third Loop's own CDN and rolled out by your organization's administrators. If you are an administrator setting this up for your users, see Extension Setup For Chrome.
Installing on Firefox
- Sign in to Third Loop and open the Downloads page.
- Under Browser Extensions, find the Firefox card.
- Click Install. Firefox will prompt you to add the extension — confirm the prompt.
- Optionally click Release notes on the card to see what changed in the current version.
After installing, pin the extension to your toolbar so it is easy to reach.
Installing on Chrome or Edge
Chrome and Edge installs are managed by your organization. Once your IT team has pushed the required policy, you install the extension yourself:
- Open the Downloads page (or the location your IT team points you to).
- Click Install on the Chrome or Edge tile and confirm the browser prompt.
If you do not see the extension available and believe you should, contact your organization's administrator. Administrators can find the full rollout guide in Extension Setup For Chrome.
First-Run Setup
The first time you open the extension, it needs to know which Third Loop environment to connect to and who you are.
- Click the Third Loop Tools icon in your browser toolbar to open the popup.
- Enter your organization (tenant) URL — the same address you use to reach Third Loop in the browser.
- Log in with your Third Loop credentials.
The extension remembers this setup, so you only do it once. If your session expires later, the popup will ask you to log in again.
Opening the Extension
You can open Third Loop Tools two ways:
- Click the icon in your browser toolbar.
- Use the keyboard shortcut —
Ctrl+Shift+Lon Windows and Linux, orCommand+Shift+Lon macOS.
Privacy and Permissions
The extension only reads the content of a page when you ask it to do something — for example, when you click Summarize or Ask. It requests broad page access so it can work on any site you visit, and it reads your Third Loop session cookie so it can authenticate requests to your tenant.
Content you summarize, ask about, or save is sent to your own Third Loop environment, the same secure tenant you use in the browser. Nothing is sent to a public AI service.
Next, see Features for what you can do once the extension is set up.
